Hop in a Jumpsuit!

I hope all is beautiful, Lavish Loves!

Let’s talk about favorites.  My favorite obsession is a favorite every glamorous girl I know…the almighty jumpsuit.  Who in the world does not love a good jumpsuit?  An all in one ensemble…the woman’s version of an infant onesie!  Every woman I know has at least one in her closet.  But of course, you know I own a few more (Uggghhh..ME).  Note to self…I need to get an accurate count when husband is out of the house (Hee Hee).

The jumpsuit was originally a one piece garment designed for skydivers or parachuters, but low and behold, the gender that runs the world got wind of this idea (we make everything better).  Then this article of clothing morphed into a simple, chic, and fashionable must have (insert an AMEN).  There are so many variations of this piece of clothing; different arm/pant lengths and widths, multiple materials, and an abundance of embellishments.  Also, they are extremely budget friendly.  There is a jumpsuit out there tailored every lavish liking.  Therefore, is absolutely no reason not to own one or MANY.

So next time that you and your youngin need to get out of the house in a hurry, grab a onesie for the baby and one for yourself.  I promise you will be glamorously on the road in micro seconds!

Until the next time, have a great week and remain Lavish!

Hey…She is My Wife

HAPPY 2017 to ALL! Well, Christmas is gone and the new year has rolled in.  Most of us are back in the full swing of work and our days off  seem like a faint memory (all my fellow educators say a collective tired sigh). I cannot believe I am saying this but I’m excited to get back to work.   There are a number of reasons for my excitement; a major reason is my work wife. Huh…work wife..yep! You read correctly. My work spouse. Every working gal needs one!

Let’s first talk about my loved one.  She is beautiful (to the eye and in the soul).  Hilarious does not do her comical skills any justice.  My wife is smart, articulate, and a lightening fast thinker.  She is the total package (wait…we’re twins…bahahaha)!  The best part…I get to see her every work day.  Side bar…Hey wife, when are going to Sephora my concealer supply is getting low?! Back to subject at hand (You know, I often digress).

My work wife is all that I previously described, but more importantly, I trust her and she trusts me.   I know she has my best interest at heart, and I am confident that she will do anything within her power to protect me from harm.  We depend on each for a number of things: laughs, snacks, pain reliever…all the essential items for a successful work day.  Just as in a traditional marriage, we have inside jokes and code words. And when an insanely eventful occurrence happens at work, she is the first person I seek out…an added plus is  that I don’t have to build the backstory of the event.  She works there, so she knows all about it! My Mrs. can be (and has been) brutally honest with me. We all need that sometimes…I know I do!

To show my appreciation for who she is, I wore her favorite color in these photos (you’re welcome, girl).

I am not sure of the exact moment that I knew she was the “work” one for me.  I suppose it was the trials, celebrations, and stress of having a job.  Just as in any relationship, we began with light witty conversation, then we moved to asking, respecting, and caring about each other’s thoughts and opinions, finally we took our “workmance” outside the confines of our career. Now,  our colleagues know we are as thick as thieves and down like four flat tires.  It is so comforting to know someone has your back and is unafraid to demonstrate it.  There is no denying…she is the one for me!

Lavish lovelies, you may have a work wife and not even realize it. If you do not; find one quickly.  This girl could be the key to your sanity and salvation.  A happy marriage makes for a wonderful home life, so why wouldn’t same thing apply your work life?! Now, pardon me as prepare to moan, groan, and complain about work to the one who makes it so much better.

Have a great week and as always remain Lavish!

Girl Power

How was everyone’s Thanksgiving?!  Blessed…I hope.  As you know from my previous post, mine was full of food, laughter, and dancing (of course). Going to my home state during the Thanksgiving holiday is very important to my family and me. This holiday is our family’s Christmas.  The very short visit provides me with so much.  It gives me wind beneath my wings and the strength to make it the 364 days until we meet again.

Let me provide a tad bit of family history; our traditional Thanksgiving travel began out of tragedy with the death of my brother.  He received his angel wings the weekend before Thanksgiving and he is buried in the state where we were raised.  Our time together began as a grieving, then healing, and now celebration. As a matter of fact, the only males in our family…married into our family.  As a group of girls, we have lost our grandfathers, fathers, husbands, sons, brothers, uncles, and cousins.

No No…do not feel sorrow for us. We are stronger for it.  The matriarch of our band of beauties (my grandmother) has lost every man who she loved and she has every right to be bitter. However, with each tragedy she became more tenacious…with every broken moment she became more bolder…with all the set backs she became stronger. She taught those traits to EACH one of us. Where as my mother taught me to embrace who I am; my grandmother taught me to be tough.  For that I am eternally grateful!

My family represents every facet on the spectrum…Middle Eastern, Black, White, Hispanic, LGBTQ, Biracial, Multiracial, business owners, leaders, students, supervisors, health care workers.  You name it; we got!  All women!! Although we are  different in  many ways, one thing is a constant.  We are strong! We are not easily broken! Sometimes we “give out” but we never “give up”! Still we rise!

Lavish ladies…no matter what cards life deals you there is an inner strength that is lying dormant. She will show herself when you least expect it.  I am here to tell you there is no situation that you CAN NOT walk through. Just stay strong because “Girl Power” is alive and well.

The few boys in our family mumble, grumble and complain about our loud estrogen filled Thanksgiving:  however, they are the first ones packed to get the party started…Hmmmm, I have a strange feeling that they secretly love it.
