HAPPY 2017 to ALL! Well, Christmas is gone and the new year has rolled in.  Most of us are back in the full swing of work and our days off  seem like a faint memory (all my fellow educators say a collective tired sigh). I cannot believe I am saying this but I’m excited to get back to work.   There are a number of reasons for my excitement; a major reason is my work wife. Huh…work wife..yep! You read correctly. My work spouse. Every working gal needs one!

Let’s first talk about my loved one.  She is beautiful (to the eye and in the soul).  Hilarious does not do her comical skills any justice.  My wife is smart, articulate, and a lightening fast thinker.  She is the total package (wait…we’re twins…bahahaha)!  The best part…I get to see her every work day.  Side bar…Hey wife, when are going to Sephora my concealer supply is getting low?! Back to subject at hand (You know, I often digress).

My work wife is all that I previously described, but more importantly, I trust her and she trusts me.   I know she has my best interest at heart, and I am confident that she will do anything within her power to protect me from harm.  We depend on each for a number of things: laughs, snacks, pain reliever…all the essential items for a successful work day.  Just as in a traditional marriage, we have inside jokes and code words. And when an insanely eventful occurrence happens at work, she is the first person I seek out…an added plus is  that I don’t have to build the backstory of the event.  She works there, so she knows all about it! My Mrs. can be (and has been) brutally honest with me. We all need that sometimes…I know I do!

I am not sure of the exact moment that I knew she was the “work” one for me.  I suppose it was the trials, celebrations, and stress of having a job.  Just as in any relationship, we began with light witty conversation, then we moved to asking, respecting, and caring about each other’s thoughts and opinions, finally we took our “workmance” outside the confines of our career. Now,  our colleagues know we are as thick as thieves and down like four flat tires.  It is so comforting to know someone has your back and is unafraid to demonstrate it.  There is no denying…she is the one for me!

Lavish lovelies, you may have a work wife and not even realize it. If you do not; find one quickly.  This girl could be the key to your sanity and salvation.  A happy marriage makes for a wonderful home life, so why wouldn’t same thing apply your work life?! Now, pardon me as prepare to moan, groan, and complain about work to the one who makes it so much better.
